Abstract

Today, national identity is one of the most important issues in developing countries is planned. Much of the training of national identity in the context of formal education takes place .Beginning with the period of fundamental transformation textbooks is also consistent with the new approach. The present article deals with the analysis of national education and from this point of clarification social studies book grade, third grade social studies book compared to the period before the change. Population
is included in the book. The content analysis of qualitative and quantitative research methods and the unit of analysis is the theme. Dimensions of national identity in this research include: symbols, values heritage, celebrities, and characters and events. The results show that both components of national identity have been uneven book, and this is more evident in the social studies book. Social teachings of the book to the celebrities and personalities (37/44%) and social studies books to the value of (50/85%) are paid. Neglect of Fame and national events, elimination of political values, greater attention to the social, moral, religious and social features of the book is the period of fundamental change.

Abstract

The present study has been conducted to comprehensively investigate students' perceptions of teacher’s social support and characteristics and functions that lead to increased perception of teacher's social support. The study has been conducted with phenomenology approach by using qualitative content analysis. Statistical population included all female 11th graders in Torbat-e Heydariyeh. By purposeful sampling and based on Social Support Scale of Maleki, Demri & Elliott (2000), 30 students (15 high scores and 15 low score) were assigned to the sample group. A semi-structured interview was employed for data collection. Based on the findings, students suggested nine themes including “empowerment of human relations”, “appropriate personality traits”, “appropriate monitoring and evaluation”, “teaching skills”, “the ability of class management”, “job commitment”, “guiding and counseling”, “academic ability” and “contributions to the students' all-round development” with an emphasis on emotional, instrumental, evaluative, and informational support. Result shows the most important characteristics of the supportive teacher are “empowerment of human relations”. Also, to boost students' perceptions of teacher's social support, teachers need to have other features like “authoritative relationships”, “appropriate encouragement and punishment”, “to have peace of mind”, “conducting coordinated exams”, “ethical counseling” and “reinforcement classes”.

Abstract

Nowadays, paying attention to textbooks as a written and codified axis of education in terms of paying attention to issues and components of citizenship, and especially citizen participation along with educational aspects, is very important and is an important aspect of an efficient school. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the extent to which textbooks pay attention to the teachings and skills required for citizen participation. The present research is descriptive-analytical and in order to achieve the intended goals, the elementary school textbooks of the academic year 2020 -2021 as the statistical population of the study were analyzed by content analysis method and the data were processed using Shannon entropy method. Findings show that in general, eight skills of questioning, participating in discussions, listening to discussions and understanding issues, responsibility, cooperation and working with others, sense of place, awareness of citizenship rights and duties, and knowledge of the city and urban management institutions. The required skills related to education and the institutionalization of citizen participation can be on the agenda. In this regard, the emphasis of textbooks is often focused on the two skills of cooperation and working with others and participation in discussions, and other skills have been neglected.

Abstract

Mahdism has long been considered by the religion of Islam and one of the main goals of textbooks is explanation and promotion of Mahdaviyat. The aim of this study was to examine the place of attention to Mahdism in content of textbooks for  Iranian General Education system. The descriptive research method was used in doing a content analysis. The statistical population of this study was the textbooks of the 12-year education system in the academic year 2019, which were compiled and published by the textbook planning and writing office. The used instrument was a researcher-made checklist that, the validity of the checklists was confirmed by two experts in the field. Descriptive statistics are used to analyze data. The results of the analyze data showed that the Content related to the subject of Mahdism in the textbooks of the Iranian education system could be classified form of 4 dimensions and 12 components and 57 indicators. Also; the results of the quantitative part of the research showed that introducing the promised savior of his followers and characteristics of the government of the Prophet components have a more attention to Mahdism in Content of Textbooks. Therefore; based on the findings of this study, in order to considering that this dimension is seen less in the content of textbooks and belief in the existence of a savior has an effective role in the mental and social health of students, it is suggested that more consider the belief in the existence of a savior in the process of preparing and compiling textbooks.
