هدف از این مطالعه بررسی تأثیر آموزش مبتنی بر هنردرمانی بر علائم اضطراب آشکار و پنهان، افسردگی و خستگی مزمن در بیماران مبتلا به مولتیپل اسکلروزیس (MS) بود. این مطالعه از نوع کارآزمایی بالینی نیمه تجربی با پیش آزمون و پس آزمون با گروه کنترل بود. برای تجزیه و تحلیل آماری داده‌ها از تحلیل کوواریانس تک متغیری استفاده شد. جامعۀ مورد مطالعه کلیۀ بیماران (319 نفر) مراجعه‌کننده به درمانگاه بیماری‌های خاص بیمارستان علّی ابن ابیطالب (ع) رفسنجان در محدودۀ سنّی 18 تا 55 سال بودند. در مرحلۀ غربالگری، نمونه‌ای متشکل از 40 نفر در نظر گرفته شد که به طور تصادفی به دو گروه آزمایش و کنترل تقسیم شدند. کلاس‌های آموزشی مبتنی بر هنردرمانی گروه آزمایش در 12 جلسۀ 45 دقیقه‌ای در روزهای دوشنبه و چهارشنبه و کلاس‌های گروه گواه در 14 جلسۀ  (45 دقیقه‌ای) با محتوای متفاوت در روزهای یکشنبه و دوشنبه برگزار شد. نتایج نشان داد که آموزش مبتنی بر هنر علائم اضطراب، افسردگی و خستگی را کاهش می‌دهد. به عبارتی، 14 جلسه آموزش مبتنی بر هنردرمانی، 30، 11، 22  و 10 درصد از واریانس اضطراب آشکار، اضطراب پنهان، افسردگی و خستگی را توضیح داد. نتیجه‌گیری می‌شود که آموزش مبتنی بر هنر در کاهش علائم اضطراب، افسردگی و خستگی در بیماران ام‌اس مؤثر است. پیشنهاد می‌شود با هدف بهبود عملکرد شناختی، عاطفی و حرکتی بیماران ام‌اس، آموزش مبتنی بر هنر در کلینیک‌های روان‌شناسی و کلینیک‌های تخصصی به عنوان درمان فرعی همراه با دارودرمانی مورد استفاده قرار گیرد.
